TREAD makes one court shoe last in four colorways, plus the care to keep it.
TREAD started in 2019 with one white court shoe, worn every day and replaced every year, because the leather cracked across the toe and the glued sole peeled away. So we took it to Portugal and had it made properly: full-grain leather that creases instead of cracking, a cork footbed, and a stitched cupsole a workshop can replace.
Every pair is cut and stitched in Portugal on one court last, from full-grain leather and a recycled rubber cupsole. When the sole wears through, send them back: our workshop fits a new one, and the upper you broke in keeps going.
Four steps, one workshop in Portugal.
Every shape is built on the same court last.
Full-grain, from gold-rated tanneries. It creases instead of cracking.
Recycled rubber, stitched on, so a workshop can replace it.
When the sole wears through, we fit a new one and post the pair back.
Try every color on at 41 Columbia Road, London, Tuesday to Sunday.
We put a booth in the shop for a weekend. Four frames, a shoe in most of them, nobody standing still.
Two minutes a week and three tools. The routine that keeps full-grain leather creasing instead of cracking.
Plain court shoes all look alike from a distance. The differences that matter are easy to check once you know the questions to ask.
